Working Out


Noticed that I haven't written anything in awhile.Didn't want anyone that happened by thinking I haven't been doing well.I have been doing great.


Thought I would post a picture of a workout that I have really enjoyed the last couple of months.It is Wii Walk It Out workout game.It's load of fun and you get a great workout while having fun.I usually workout for an hour or more while moving and playing the game.When you finish your workout you get stats stating how you did.I have been averaging at least 8,000 steps and burn at least 300 calories while having lots of fun.


Back in January I went back to the Spark People website.I had been using the website a few years ago to lose weight.I did well then but didn't keep up with it.


Since January 1st I am now down 18 pounds and several inches.I've gone down a size or two in jeans and a top size.I feel fantastic and have lots of energy.


I have a blog on Spark People where I post about my weight loss journey.I sort of forgot about this blog.Hope to come back here at least once a month and post something.Don't know if anyone else is reading this but I want to keep up with it since I started it last October.

My Weekly Progress


I have decided to have Tuesdays as the day that I post my progress to keep me accountable.
This week I am down 2 pounds.I took my measurements last week so I won't measure again for another month.
Really upped the intensity of my walks which I think is helping.Yesterday my walk was on rolling hills which was different for me.Next year I hope to get back to walking in the park which has rolling hills.It is now closed for the winter and will re-open in April I believe.They are busy getting the Christmas lights and light formations all set up in the park for the annual Christmas lights show that starts on Thanksgiving and ends the week of New Years.
I added in my strength training routines today which I will do on Tuesdays and Thursday.When weather doesn't permit I will go back to riding my stationary bike instead of walking outside.

A Fun walk


I went on a nice walk today with my granddaughter's kindergarten class.She attends a public primary school.Every autumn all of the children take a walk to watch apple butter being made outdoors.




Didn't know what to expect or how far we were going to be walking.I was in for a nice surprise.We ended up walking 2 1/2 miles round trip.Since we were walking with small children who take small steps I wasn't walking at the pace that I usually walk.It was a nice walk up and down rolling hills.




The apple butter is being made by a church group.They make it every autumn then place it in jars and sell it as a fund raiser.




It was fun watching the process.Sure brought back memories of one of my uncles making it.He is a minister and their church would also make it outdoors and sell it as a fund raiser.




The apple butter smelled so good cooking out in the open.




When we left the school it was around 50 and when we returned to the school the temperature had risen to around 60.Turned out to be a very pretty day.The sun was shining brightly today with the temperature in the lower 70's.

My Pedometer


I use an OMRON Walking Style Pocket Pedometer.It is the best pedometer I have ever used.You put it in your pocket and forget about it.There is a clip at the end of the little rope that you can use to clip the pedometer to your pocket.The clip recently broke on mine.Since it still runs fine I will not replace my pedometer.Just hope that it doesn't fall out of my pocket.I loved the security of knowing that it was fastened to my pocket.I have replaced this pedometer once thanks to leaving it in a pocket and running it through the washer.I learned my lesson well.

What I love most about my pedometer is that it comes with a computer program.I can download the stats from my pedometer to the program.There is a steps graph that I recently noticed and started using.It divides the total of my daily steps into two categories...either aerobic or non aerobic steps.I am striving to obtain aerobic steps while on my walk.I listen to my i-pod while walking.That in itself helps me to walk at a faster pace which boasts my aerobic steps.

I am down 3 pounds for the week.Finally got around to taking my measurements again so I will have another way to measure how well I am doing.The scale often doesn't go down but measurements do.

A New Day



I am fast approaching a milestone birthday so thought it would benefit me to start another blog to be accountable to how I am striving to be a more healthy person.

I am determined to strive each day to make the right decisions in regards to what I am eating and to get in some daily exercise.

Walking is my favored form of exercise.I have a pocket pedometer that I use to keep track of my steps.I can download the stats from my pedometer to the computer software program that came with the pedometer.It is nice to see my steps along with seeing if I had reached an aerobic workout or not.

I am determined to get an aerobic workout while walking.I wear an I-Pod and listen to mostly upbeat music.My music choices range from oldies,country and Bluegrass.

This past week I did really well with walking.I worked up to 3 miles one day but felt it the next.That is another reason for this blog.I want to keep motivated especially when I am feeling the aches from a brisk walk the previous day.I need to get back out there and do it again and again and again even when I am not feeling like it.

Need to take my measurements so I can track my progress that way along with seeing the pounds drop.

I will post and update how I am doing.Hopefully it will be progress and good reports in days to come.
